You want to be independent, but you know that you’re not ready. Nearly mature, but not quite yet. Something of insecurity and vulnerability is visible in this picture, but also strength to continue. Continue to walk further on new shoes, on new roads, a new beginning.
This describes the situation as it is now. As you know, a girl lived with me during the summer months and after a break of four weeks she lives since Friday September 25th with me again. The process to become a host family was put in motion, afterwards transformed into an application to become a guardian and now it seems that I will become foster parent. You learn to be flexible, whether you like it or not. To become official foster parent I will follow a course in October and November on Saturdays and Sundays. Once it is completed it will also open doors for any other underage girls. The current housing situation can accommodate up to two girls / young women and as I write this, the second bedroom is being renovated for use. Great to have support in spiritually, financially aswell in practical terms.
When we look at the vision of Hope for Life there is written: It is our vision to provide young women of 18+ a safe place to live and to recover in an environment of encouragement and security.
It turns out not to be easy to find a suitable location for the house where we can offer place for six young women. How great is it to be able to start already on a small scale. A place of security offered to a girl of 17 years (in age not the age as written in the vision of Hope for Life) is a good start of a bright future for aswell her aswell Hope for Life.
